March 2, 2021

Dear Friends of RPH,

After nine months of resisting Covid-19, the virus made its way into our homes in the midst of winter. We all felt its presence and experienced the heartbreak of losing some of our beloved Elders. Through it all, we relied on one another and remained steadfast in our commitment to this wonderful mission of caring.

Thankfully, today, I am pleased to inform you that “March has come in like a lamb” in all of our Rochester Presbyterian Home communities. We have one resident at RPH-the Homestead who is recovering from Covid-19 and this, amazing 102 year old woman, has defeated the virus.  Cottage Grove and Creekstone have no current cases and have resumed family visitation.  The Homestead is expected to welcome visitors next week.  We are excited and grateful.

Most of our Elders and many of our staff have received the Covid-19 vaccines with little or no side effects.  Although, infection control remains a primary objective, we will increasingly work to foster greater socialization and engagement among our Elders, as we understand the importance of inspiring connectedness and nurturing the human spirit.

With spring approaching, we feel hopeful and energized to re-build and welcome new Elders while renewing the trust and confidence that all of you have shared during this most challenging time.   We thank you for your kindness and support and we look forward to strengthening our ties in the months ahead.  Inspired everyday by our Elders, we remain RPH Strong!

Sincerely,
Nancy Smyth
